| University of Nevada School of Medicine Appoint Fertility Experts Dr. Bruce Shapiro and Dr. Said Daneshmand to Lead the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology
LAS VEGAS: The University of Nevada School of Medicine, with campus' in both northern and southern Nevada, has announced the appointment of Dr. Bruce Shapiro as Division Head for the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and his associate, Dr. Said Daneshmand as Clinical Assistant Professor. Both doctors will continue leading their practice, The Fertility Center of Las Vegas and treating patients from around the globe, in addition to accepting additional responsibilities for the medical instruction of students, residents, and colleagues. The appointments were effective August 1, 2000.
Among the duties the doctors will spearhead include medical student lectures, case presentations, clinical rotation oversight, and grand rounds. Senior residents will also have the opportunity to assist the doctors during procedures in area hospitals.
Originally recruited by the school to found the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 1988, Dr. Shapiro has remained an associate professor. A UCLA-trained reproductive endocrinologist, Doctor Daneshmand's appointment is his first with Nevada's medical school. Both are looking forward to taking a more active role in the educational process and working with the medical school's administration and faculty
The Fertility Center is southern Nevada's most tenured infertility practice with the city's first sub-specialist in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. The Center's pregnancy and birth success rates are among the highest in the nation as validated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Controls. Dr. Daneshmand, together with The Fertility Center's founder and medical director Dr. Bruce Shapiro, conduct ongoing research to elucidate fertility treatments earning them peer respect as well as publication in esteemed professional journals including Fertility and Sterility.
